Police say a Stratford woman was arrested for shoplifting and then trying to run down an officer in Fairfield Tuesday afternoon.
They say the officer was in the parking lot of Bob's Store when an employee came running out, saying a woman had shoplifted.
Police say Briggs stole around $430 worth of merchandise.
They say the officer followed the woman, Lisa Briggs, out of the parking lot and pulled her over a short time later. When the officer approached Briggs, police say she stepped on the gas, barely missing the officer and crashing into his car.
Police say Briggs escaped but was found about a half an hour later in Bridgeport.
Fairfield police say Briggs is lucky that no one was hurt. She faces charges including criminal attempt to assault an officer.
Briggs is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on July 2.
