A suspicious package has been removed outside the federal courthouse in Bridgeport, police say.

Bridgeport police tweeted at 11 a.m. that there is a suspicious package at 915 Lafayette at the Federal Courthouse.

They say state police and federal marshals were handling the incident.

The Bridgeport Police Department and fire departments also responded to the scene.

Police spokesperson Terron Jones says the package was removed and there is no threat in the area.
