Fairfield police are warning consumers of the dangers of parking lot thieves during the holiday season.

With many people doing their holiday shopping, it's natural to be dropping off bags after purchases and going back in for more. However, police say to make sure that your new merchandise is in the trunk and out of sight.

Fairfield Police Lt. James Perez says that parking lots have become a breeding ground for thieves hoping to make easy money.

Perez also reminds shoppers that just closing your window is not enough: keep everything in your trunk and always park carefully.
