Police in Orange are warning residents to be on the lookout for suspicious behavior.
They say a man who claimed to work for the town was likely trying to distract a homeowner, while an accomplice nearby may have sought to break into his home from another entry point.
Police say it happened at a home on Fairlea Road last Thursday
The suspect told the homeowner that he needed to arrange for trees on the property to be cut down.
Police say the suspect left on foot after the homeowner became suspicious and told him to leave.
