Stamford police are warning residents today about a phone scam.

They say eight people have been tricked by a caller who claims they've missed jury duty and must pay a fine to avoid getting arrested.

Police say the victims are told to load cash onto a Green Dot Money card and give the caller the card's number.

Officers say no government agency will call you and ask you to pay a fine using cash cards.
