A family is grieving after a woman was fatally shot while looking outside of a window inside her Bridgeport home.
Sujata Lee Edwards, 36, was shot and killed after the bullet came flying through her 660 William St. home Tuesday around 7:47 p.m., her family tells News 12.
Police say at least 10 shots were fired from outside of the home following a disturbance between people inside of the home and a group of people outside of it.
The victim's mother, Llesa O'Connor, says her daughter was looking outside of a second-floor window to watch her child get inside of a car after being picked up by their father when she was shot in the torso.
Police Chief AJ Perez says he promises to arrest the shooter sooner rather than later.
Edwards lived at the home with her two teenage children and other family members including the victim's 84-year-old grandmother, family members say.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.
Officials say this shooting marks the fourth homicide in Bridgeport this year.
