Despite sky-high gas prices, AAA of Connecticut says it expects more people to travel this Memorial Day weekend than last year.

It was easy going on the roads Friday morning, but the rest stop along I-95 in Fairfield is expected to be a busy place later in the day. AAA says driving to a destination is the most cost-effective way to travel if you have a family.

AAA suggests travelers try to leave on an off hour, possibly Friday night or Saturday morning, to avoid the rush. AAA also says travelers might want to extend their weekend through Tuesday to avoid the traffic coming home.

AAA says the most important thing to remember this holiday weekend, and throughout the year, is to buckle up and slow down.
