Thieves have been targeting pricy, high tech items in a rash of car break-ins in Stamford.
In December alone, police say more than 60 motorists reported having their windows broken and items stolen right out of the vehicles. According to authorities, the items are often carelessly left in plain sight inside the vehicles.
Most of the 63 reports called in happened on Hope Street, often into cars parked in driveways and during the daytime. Police are advising drivers to remove gadgets such as GPS systems and iPods, as well as the items' mountings, from their vehicles.
