Prosecutor’s office: Pair sexually assaulted at gunpoint by stranger who jumped out of bushes at Great Falls

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has announced an arrest and charges against a man in connection to a sexual assault at gunpoint at the Great Falls in Paterson.
William Vazquez, 32, is charged with multiple counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault, among other charges.
The incident happened Aug. 9, 2021, when a woman and man who were at the Great Falls in Paterson located a police officer in the area and reported they were sexually assaulted at gunpoint by a stranger who jumped out of the bushes carrying a silver revolver in his hands.
According to police, formal statements were taken from each victim. The suspect's vehicle was also identified at the scene. Vazquez was later identified as the suspect and charged accordingly.
Vazquez is currently detained at the Bergen County Jail. The state filed a motion for pretrial detention, which was granted.
