Several hundred protesters marched and chanted through Norwalk today demanding justice for 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen who was shot to death by a neighborhood watchman.
Organizers of the rally say the purpose of today's event is to call for charges to be brought against 28-year-old George Zimmerman, who police say is responsible for Martin's death.
According to authorities, on Feb. 26, the 17-year-old boy was walking to his father's house in Sanford, Fla. dressed in a hoodie when he was gunned down by Zimmerman, who claimed Martin was acting suspiciously. Martin was discovered to be unarmed.
Today, protesters in Norwalk walked for 30 minutes from Calvary Baptist Church before attending a service at Grace Baptist Church. Many of the participants were wearing hoodies in Martin's honor.
