People in Bridgeport joined protesters throughout Connecticut and across the country Monday to march for May Day.
Those protesting say they were not only defending workers' rights, but immigrants' rights too.
They say they came out to protest against President Donald Trump's actions on immigration, to improve the lives of immigrants and their children, and to push for a decision to make Bridgeport a sanctuary city.
Other cities across the country held similar rallies Monday.
Many immigrants say the demonstrations provide comfort at a time of uncertainty.
Bridgeport City Council members say the Public Safety Committee will be discussing two proposals Tuesday that address how to provide more protection for immigrants in the country illegally.
