Dozens of local families welcomed new pets into their homes just in time for the holidays after volunteers arranged for two dozen puppies to be driven from Texas to Southport.
The dogs were rescued from Texas and have been on the road a few days. The trip was delayed when the van carrying them broke down in Ohio.
A Southport woman runs 4 Little Paws, which brings mostly smaller dogs cross county to the area, where there are a lot of families looking to adopt.
"When they get here, some of them are really happy to get out of the cages and are really bouncing and want to kiss everyone. Some of them are scared and not very friendly but they all warm up," said Irina Blind.
Blind said before the dogs made the big trip, they were cared for in her facility in San Antonio.
