A boil water advisory remains in effect Sunday for residents in Paterson and Prospect Park following Friday's water main break near Hinchliffe Stadium, the Passaic Valley Water Commission says.

The advisory will be effect until repairs are completed and testing shows the water quality is safe.

Repairs should be completed in next 24-36 hours, according to a release from PVWC sent Sunday morning.

"We are hopeful that the leak will be isolated today, as crews have begun a more complex approach to cut off the flow," a spokesperson said in a prepared statement. "Residents may continue to experience low or no water pressure and discolored water. PVWC staff are in the field today taking pressure readings to determine the extent of the impacted areas and adjust valves to improve flow."

For a second day, PVWC will provide free bottled water to residents at Hillford Park. Proof of residency in Paterson, Prospect Park or Haledon is required. Portable bathrooms and showers are also being provided to residents without water. The bathrooms are located at John F. Kennedy School along with the four mobile showers.

PVWC says it is coordinating with Ridgewood Water to supply Haledon and are pursuing a similar arrangement with Veolia. The Manchester Utilities Authority, which serves customers in Haledon and parts of North Haledon, are working with Hawthorne Water to regain some water service to the area, North Haledon police says.

Police say they will be distributing water Sunday at the Department of Public Works on Willow Brook Court. There will be two lines – one for potable water and a second for people to fill their own five-gallon containers.

"A big portion of our community is in need and is struggling right now. Lack of water, no water...We never imagined that people who are in homes would need this," said Zelly Thomas, of Black Lives Matter Paterson.
