A Quinnipiac University student who is studying abroad in England says since she landed overseas, the country has been mourning the loss of Britain's longest reigning monarch.
"As soon as you get to England, you see her face everywhere. And you hear about it everywhere," said Kira Beckerman.
Beckerman watched the live coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral from her dorm room Monday.
"I've never experienced something like this in my lifetime," she said. "It's been kind of crazy. It's kind of wild, kind of seeing everybody definitely coming together in London. Like if you're in London right now, you're part of this event, you're in it."
Beckerman is a film, television and media arts major at Quinnipiac University. For now, she is allowing this historical time to sink in.
Beckerman says her classes begin next Monday, but all her events for orientation were canceled as all eyes were on the funeral.
