A rally in response to the death of Ferguson, Missouri teenager Michael Brown was held Tuesday evening in Bridgeport.
Brown, 18, was fatally shot last week by a police officer. The shooting has sparked more than a week of demonstrations in Ferguson, with some of the demonstrations turning violent. Brown's family has asked for the violence to stop.
Hundreds of people attended Bridgeport's rally at McLevy Green. Speakers at the rally included state and local lawmakers, along with high school students, who all delivered a message of nonviolence and peace. People at the rally say they are horrified by what happened in Ferguson and are concerned something like that could happen in Bridgeport.
Brown's funeral is scheduled for Monday.
