From the way you warm up your home to the cup of joe that warms you up, we are breaking down those everyday costs.
While you may not be able to control the prices, knowing them can help you control your budget.
That's where the team at Investopedia steps in. Caleb Silver, editor in chief at Investopedia, says while the rate of growth of inflation may have slowed, "you are still feeling it in a lot of the essentials we pay here in New York, electricity prices in particular up 17.4% year over year, utility and piped gas into your home that's up 14.5% it usually gets more expensive this time of year to heat our homes, rent prices up 6.5%, and then household furnishings up over 5% from last year."
Even those items in your pantry that you buy every week are costing more. Silver says, "When you think about what we are paying for eggs right now $3.37 per dozen here in the tristate area, that's up 62% from last year a lot of that having to do with supply shortages."Coffee prices are also up, it is $6.64 a pound which is up 7.5% according to Silver. But he says there is some good news. A loaf of bread, depending on the kind, will run you just about $1.94.
