With the coronavirus keeping potential donors at home, the American Red Cross says it's seeing a critical blood shortage.
Representatives for the Red Cross say while the coronavirus pandemic is on everyone's minds, other people with pressing medical needs still depend on their supply of donated blood.
Blood drives have been canceled due to the pandemic.
Account Manager Susan Sommer says if the trend continues, surgery and trauma doctors could be looking at an unprecedented blood shortage.
With social distancing and extra cleaning protocols in place, Sommer says you can donate and save up to three lives without worrying about exposing yourself or others to infection.
