Redding has settled a wrongful death lawsuit with the family of Peter Valenti.
In 2016, Valenti was found hanging from the rafters in his shed.
The lawsuit claims that officers were ordered not to near him.
EMTs came and examined his body before rushing him to the hospital, where he later died.
Police Chief Doug Fuchs reportedly initially refused to let medics check on Valentine because he said it was a crime scene.
The family's attorney says he cannot disclose the amount of the settlement because of an agreement with the town, but says it is substantial.
