Bridgeport police said Friday that they arrested a man in an attempted armed robbery.
Police say Reginald Chavis, 19, approached an employee outside the Gulf Station on Fairfield Avenue on Wednesday, pulled out a gun and ordered him to open the register.
Officers say Chavis struggled with the victim as an officer patrolling the area came by.
That is when police say the victim ran to the officer for help and Chavis took off.
Officers say police dog Balu eventually tracked him down by smelling a shoe that Chavis left behind at the scene.
