Rep. Jim Himes was in Norwalk today to talk about the impact the American Rescue Plan will have on the state's child care centers.
Under the American Rescue Plan, Connecticut is set to receive $120 million in stabilization funding for child care centers.
The Children's Playhouse in Norwalk will receive funding from the American Rescue Plan. The preschool on Bouton Street remained open during the pandemic and so did the second location on West Avenue, partly because the owner's family loaned the business money.
Many child care centers across the state couldn't afford to stay open.
Himes says the $120 million in stabilization funding will help the centers get back on their feet.
The money will be spread out among around 3,500 facilities.
The application process for the funding begins next week.
All eligible child care centers will be notified
