A new report says the U.S. saw an increase in young adults seeking treatment for eating disorders during the pandemic.
The report, published in the JAMA Pediatrics journal, said inpatient admissions for adolescents with eating disorders rose seven-tenths of a percent a month over a four-year period from 2018 to 2022.
In 2020, that growth increased to 7.2% a month.
The report also said the number of eating disorder inpatient admissions doubled from spring 2020, when most restrictions and lockdowns were first put in place, through April 2021.
