Candidates in several southwestern Connecticut cities and towns did some last-minute campaigning Monday ahead of Tuesday?s primaries.
Republicans Gavin Anderson and Joe Arcudi are facing off for their party?s nomination for Westport first selectman. One of them will take on Gordon Joseloff in November.
Anderson says he?s running to help preserve some of Westport?s greatest natural assets like the wetlands. He also says his financial background is something the town desperately needs. Anderson served on the town board of finance and has worked for Fortune 100 Company Colgate.
Joe Arcudi served as Westport first selectman from 1993 to 1997. He lost his re-election bid in 97 to Diane Farrell and says he is ready to serve the people again. Arcudi says he helped make Westport Town Hall accessible to residents by making the zoning process easier. He also cites progress he made on taxes.
