A farmer's market in Bridgeport has reopened for the season.
Organizers of Reservoir Community Farm say they are proud to promote the simple values of food justice and urban agriculture.
The nonprofit grows food on Reservoir Avenue and encourages the public to buy it.
Executive director of the organization Ellie Angerame says the farmer's market is more then nutrition.
"The pandemic is still with us and we've lost loved ones and we're also facing a real time of reckoning, not only in our city, but around the globe when it comes to advocating and defending Black lives," Angerame says. "It feels like a really important moment food justice and a real moment to ground ourselves individually and spiritually in the soil."
Organizers are working with other farms to bring locally grown produce to the community every Saturday through the beginning of October.
