In honor of Independence Day, the Norwalk Historical Society opened its doors Saturday to an exhibit about the city's past.
Residents toured a replica of a New England one-room schoolhouse at the historical society, where guides told visitors about the study materials used by some of the first students in Connecticut. The historical society also refurbished a cemetery used by Norwalk families who lived during the American Revolution.
Susan Thompson, of Norwalk, says the exhibits made her think of the Declaration of Independence and the reasons for celebrating the Fourth of July.
