Some Stratford residents are fighting the town's decision to trap and kill a colony of beavers.
The town recently approved the trapping after multiple residents complained that a dam built by the animals is causing flooding in their homes.
Opponents of the plan spoke at a public forum on Monday saying the town didn't deal with the situation correctly. Animal advocates argue that town officials only partially breached the dam, allowing the beavers to rebuild.
They say the town came to the decision too quickly, but town officials say it was a difficult decision to make. They also say they're working on a long-term solution to not trap and kill the beavers in the future.
