Residents prepare, get the essentials for overnight storm

People throughout Long Island spent Sunday getting the essentials and preparing for the coastal storm that brought torrential rain.
A week after Long Islanders finished digging themselves out from several inches of snow, some got their shopping done for themselves or for their loved ones.
"My mother in-law lives here. I am trying to get everything together so I can go home and be at home and not go out," said Andrea Ayala, of Staten Island.
An East Rockaway resident told News 12 Long Island that there wasn't much she needed to prepare, as she had food at home and a full tank of gas. She added that she tries to stay ahead of inclement weather.
Although this storm may not dump any snow, the National Weather Service said the mix of heavy rain, flooding and strong winds could bring lots of damage to the Island.
