The Cheshire home invasion and murders has put a lot of residents on edge, which is why police are offering tips to keep houses safe.
Fairfield police are urging residents to use locks and alarms in their homes. They say those safety devices should not only be used when residents aren?t home. According to police, locks and alarms should be used when people are home, especially at night.
Southwestern Connecticut residents should also keep all windows on the first floor locked, whenever possible. Police also say residents should keep the curtains or blinds closed, especially at night.
Meanwhile, police are still investigating the Cheshire home invasion. While the details are still unclear, police say two men entered a home around 3 a.m., held a family hostage and later set the home on fire.
