Retired Norwalk K9 Kai passes way

Norwalk police are mourning the loss of one of their own, retired police service dog Kai.
Kai, a 14-year-old German Shepard, served the city from February 2012 to August 2020 and was handled by Officer Richard Montanez.
Kai held several certifications.
Police say Kai assisted in numerous finds, criminal apprehensions and helped locate multiple missing persons, along with those in need of medical help.
In 2015, he received the federal law enforcement officers association award for the tracking and apprehension of violent armed robbery suspects
