A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday for the former Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Wilton after the school changed its name to academy.
The name change from school to academy is attributed to the new style of learning that the institution has adopted.
School officials say they have a new multi-age classroom structure.
Kindergarten and first grade students will be paired together and so will second and third graders.
Fourth and fifth graders will also be grouped together while middle school students will share some classes together.
Saint Joseph Catholic Academy in Brookfield has also adopted the multi-age classroom structure.
