Ezra Zimmerman is once again helping victims of a deadly natural disaster. “It looks apocalyptic and devastating,” Zimmerman says. “I did a relief mission to Houston after Hurricane Harvey.” The Ridgefield native is asking the public to donate supplies to benefit victims of Hurricane Helene. “I couldn’t imagine having to go through that,” Zimmerman says. “Whatever I can do to help to try and make their situation better is what I’m trying to do.” The local business owner will be collecting all kinds of non-perishable food, winter apparel, and survival items at 679 Danbury Road in Ridgefield until Nov 4. “I feel like we can make a difference,” Zimmerman says. A GoFundMe which will also be used to purchase more food and supplies had raised over $5,000 of its $10,000 goal Monday afternoon. “Whatever we don’t raise,” Zimmerman says. “My friend Greg Wandschneider and I are going to cover the difference to make this delivery happen.” Zimmerman plans to deliver the supplies to a nonprofit which has been a hub for the Asheville, North Carolina area on Nov. 6.
