Rite Aid closing all of its New York stores after filing for bankruptcy for second time

Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy for the second time, and it has now officially decided to close its New York stores for good. Locations could also be operated by a new owner. The drug store chain blames the rapidly evolving retail and health care industry for its financial struggles.

You may recall when your local Rite Aid turned into a Walgreens. Thats was after the drug store chains came to a deal that allowed Walgreens to buy almost 2,000 Rite Aid locations. Six years later, Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy, and now its getting rid of all its New York stores.

As the process plays out, customers can still get their prescriptions, immunizations, and other products in Rite Aid stores and online.
