Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy for the second time, and it has now officially decided to close its New York stores for good. Locations could also be operated by a new owner. The drug store chain blames the rapidly evolving retail and health care industry for its financial struggles.
You may recall when your local Rite Aid turned into a Walgreens. Thats was after the drug store chains came to a deal that allowed Walgreens to buy almost 2,000 Rite Aid locations. Six years later, Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy, and now its getting rid of all its New York stores.
