Riverbank Road Bridge in Stamford reopens following emergency closure
The Riverbank Road Bridge in Stamford is now back open following an emergency closure earlier this year.
The bridge was closed back in April after the state found it unstable.
According to Mayor David Martin, they encountered some issues during construction, including moving a water main, but they were still able to complete the project quickly.
"The goal before the winter so that people can traverse this road because this is the better path than the detours that we've been using,” says Martin. “So I'm very happy. Record time, coming in less than what we thought the budget would be so we're all very happy and I'm sure that the neighbors are going be satisfied that we finally got this bridge re-opened."
Officials say decorative elements for the bridge will be completed in the spring.
