A local author has launched her debut book.

Avery Carpenter Forrey, of Riverside, wrote a novel called "Social Engagement."

For publication day, she had a discussion at Athena Books in Greenwich with Darien resident and fellow writer, Carola Lovering.

In "Social Engagement," which was published by HarperCollins, Forrey writes about millennial wedding culture through the ever-present lens of social media.

"Social Engagement" has already been featured on Vogue's 10 Best Beach Reads of the Summer.
