After a Bronx Little League stand was robbed, the league said all the money it uses to buy trophies for the players is gone.
Upon opening the door of the stand, Castle Hill Little League President Henry Pelayo said he found a broken cash register, open cupboards and pennies lying on the floor.
Volunteers from the league said the person involved cut the wire for the alarm in the stand, as well as the telephone cord. They said in order for the safe to leave the premises, the person had to cut a fence and push it through.
Players said Trophy Day is a tradition that children in the tournament look forward to. The league said it will try to make sure the children still get them, but it has to start over collecting funds.
