The death of actor Robin Williams has brought attention to depression and other mental health issues.
Dr. Simon Rego, the director of psychology training at Montefiore Medical Center, says depression is a psychological disorder that goes deeper than regular sadness because it will interfere with a patient's everyday routine. It is not something that goes away easily and the Suicide Awareness Voices of Education say it's the strongest risk factor for suicide.
Rego suggests anyone who is suffering from depression try to turn to family and other loved ones for support. If it isn't enough, contact a doctor or a help line.
