A special committee has chosen the design of a permanent memorial to the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre.
The centerpiece of the memorial is a single sycamore tree planted in the center of a reflecting pool, etched with the names of the 26 children and teachers killed that day.
The park was created by a San Francisco company and received with overwhelming approval from the victims’ families.
The commission hopes to dedicate the memorial Dec. 14 next year, on the seventh anniversary of the shooting.
