10h agoA memorial to honor the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting will be opened to the public this weekend.
The Newtown Memorial Commission will open the Sandy Hook memorial Sunday.
It's located on Riverside Road, just down the road from the school.
The opening will happen weeks before the 10-year anniversary of the shooting.
One of the victim's mothers, Jennifer Hubbard says the memorial is a symbol of what Newtown has accomplished in the last decade when its residents have come together.
Hubbard also says the space is place for reflection and serves as a reminder of the healing, compassion and love the community has sought to bring to the world.
