Police are asking for the public's help to find whoever spray-painted satanic messages at St. Andrew Church in Bridgeport.
Investigators, who spent Friday morning canvassing the neighborhood, are asking neighbors of the Anton Street church and school to turn over surveillance video that may have recorded the incident.
The red graffiti includes pentagrams, upside-down crosses and the number 666. Statues of the Virgin Mary and other religious icons were vandalized.
"It's upsetting and it is scary. I was disgusted," says Barbara Ezepchick. "It's just sad that someone would just be so disrespectful to the church like that."
"It hurts. It really hurts," says St. Andrew Academy Principal Maria O'Neill. "My concern is with the children and making sure that they feel safe."
Officials believe that the vandals struck sometime between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday.
