The first snowstorm of 2025 brought dangerous conditions to roads Monday afternoon.
Travelers reported accidents in towns like Weston, Fairfield, Westport and other areas.
“I go to school in Mississippi," Norwalk's Christina Celan says. "The driving is way more chaotic here than what it is in Mississippi."
While commuters and travelers had eventful afternoons, first responders and tow truck companies were busy, too.
“It was a mess out there," says Eric Aldarondo, of Quality Towing & Auto Repair. “With everything freezing, that’s what people don’t expect. When it’s cold weather like this, the slightest bit of wetness on the ground and it freezes over."
Aldarondo said he responded to eight accidents Monday, including a scary rollover crash near the Merritt Parkway.
“Luckily, the people made it out OK. They were able to crawl out of the car, but it’s a scary situation when you're in it."
Experts say even cars with four-wheel drive can lose control in seconds if drivers aren't careful.
Motorists are encouraged to drive slow, especially with frigid temperatures here to stay the rest of the week.
