Dozens of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are doing their part to help the hungry in Milford.
Despite heavy rain in the forecast, volunteers kicked off their weekend by sorting and packing donated food for families in Connecticut.
The Scouts are collecting food for eight food pantries.
They plan to work through the night putting together boxes of food for people to have on Thanksgiving. The boxes will be delivered to 300 families by Scouts and their leaders beginning Saturday.
The Boy and Girl Scouts of Connecticut have been holding this food drive event for 14 years.
"Well a lot of people don't have the financial support for these holiday times and it can be expensive for some families during the holidays," says Scout Gavin Royce. "So having this food is a great way to help them support themselves during the holiday."
Volunteers will be out all weekend and they are still accepting donations.
All donations can be brought to Wasson Field on West Main Street in Milford.
