First responders canceled the search for an alleged missing swimmer on Friday, after spending hours examining Lake Mohegan with divers and boat crews.
Lt. James Perez of the Fairfield Police Department says that he received a call from a woman who claims to have seen a 10-year-old boy go into the lake.
Fairfield police says that there is no indication of anyone missing at this time, despite initial reports that the boy vanished in the water after going for a swim.
Authorities say it's possible that the witness did not see the moment the boy came out of the water.
Though the search came up empty-handed, officials say rescuers did what the situation requires anytime there's the possibility that someone is in danger.
