The cold snap is over. Now, through next week, temperatures will rise above normal with highs in the 60s and even 70s. Expect to see more sunshine and very little rainfall into next week as well.

The risk of frost is over for now, but we may not be done with the cold for good. Average last frost dates vary across Western Connecticut, from about mid-April in southern areas to early May in the northwestern part of the state.

With the dry brush, very low humidity and a dry breeze, there is an elevated fire weather potential. It's that time of year again, so please be careful with open flames outdoors.

Temperatures on land will warm up easily, but the Sound water temperatures remain cold and in the lower 40s.

A weak cold front will slide through the area Friday night. There is a slight chance of some light showers overnight and into the pre-dawn hours on Saturday.

The weekend looks great as the sunshine returns and fills our sky going into Sunday. Temperatures will be milder with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s, but it gets even warmer next week. Expect pollen levels to surge with the next bout of warmer weather.
