Senator Richard Blumenthal is pushing for billions of dollars to improve mass transit in Connecticut and across the country.
Blumenthal says organizations like Greater Bridgeport Transit are struggling to provide busing services during the pandemic. He also says they need money for personal protective equipment, staffing and cleaning supplies.
"There needs to be a massive federal infusion of help for mass transit in Connecticut and around the country," Blumenthal says. "And these buses are absolutely necessary so that the frontline essential works can reach their jobs and continue their work as heroes.
Blumenthal says the Heroes Act would provide a sufficient down payment to keep busses running with $32 billion in funding.
