Sen. Richard Blumenthal is demanding answers from the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Blumenthal says he wants to restore funding from cuts due to the Trump administration as the rate of suicide amongst veterans is double than the general population.

"If we don't get satisfactory answers from the top official at the Veterans administration, I'll go to the president and I'm going to enlist my colleagues as the top democrat on the Veterans Affair Committee of the Senate on both sides of the aisle," said Blumenthal.

He says potential funding would benefit mental health resources for veterans.
