Sen. Richard Blumenthal tells News 12 that federal investigators must probe the explosion that occurred Friday at Tradebe Environmental Services in Bridgeport.
Blumenthal says he wants to know if the company was in compliance with federal safety regulations designed to keep communities safe through expert training, resources and reporting support.
"I will be seeking more federal involvement in the investigation that should be done to determine how this explosion occurred, whether there was proper authority to store these chemicals, and what can be done to prevent these kinds off catastrophic explosions in the future," says Blumenthal.
Blumenthal says it is important for federal investigators to be a part of any investigation related to accidents that take place at a company handling chemicals.
