Sen. Richard Blumenthal is pushing for immediate action to step up funding for security at Jewish places of worship across the state.
As the Israel-Hamas war continues, he says it is important to ensure that Jewish residents in Connecticut are safe.
"The rising threat of antisemitism that we're seeing in reported incidents means we must seek more funding to protect them, and I'm going to urge a doubling or more of the nonprofit security fund that protects synagogues and other Jewish places of worship -- but also other faith institutions -- because the threat of domestic violent extremism is growing and, tragically, we need to protect against it,” he said.
Blumenthal says the funding comes from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
