Sen. Richard Blumenthal says the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act will benefit the state's economy.
The legislation contains investments for helicopters, submarines and F-35 aircrafts.
He says the investments will not only enhance national security, but also boost the state's defense manufacturing workforce in the long term.
Blumenthal said, “$697 million in direct investment in our industry base for submarines. This investment means that we are preparing for the 13 subs that are authorized in the NDDA but even beyond it for decades into the future."
He says the bill also contains funding for workforce development.
