? State Sen. Andrew McDonald says the state of Connecticut may have been negligent in a chimpanzee attack that left a woman severely mauled.
Sen. McDonald says a Department of Environmental Protection biologist sent a letter to the state before the attack, warning that the chimpanzee was dangerous. Despite that warning, Sen. McDonald says the state didn?t attempt to move the 200-lb. chimp from the owner?s home.
Victim Charla Nash lost both her hands and suffered severe injuries to her face in the February attack. She is recovering at the Cleveland Clinic and is able to communicate with staff with the assistance of a voice box.
