The two met with gun control advocates from the Road Trip for Background Checks. Volunteers visit 23 states in 10 days to push for universal background checks.
The senators say the time for talk is over.
Progress seems unlikely in the Senate, where Democrats do not have enough votes to get past a procedural vote.
A new Quinnipiac University poll finds nearly 90% of all Americans are in favor of background checks for all gun buyers.
