This Pride Month, Connecticut's senators are urging Congress to pass the Equality Act.
The legislation would prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation and gender identity.
The act was recently reintroduced in both houses of Congress.
Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal say the act is urgent, as many states have passed or introduced anti-LGBTQ+ laws, many of them, focused on children.
"No one should be denied a job because of who they love. No one should be denied a loan or housing or any right because of who they are," said Blumenthal.
Earlier this month, the Human Rights Campaign declared a state of emergency for the LGBTQ+ community in the United States.
